The Endolite TT Pro
TT Pro

The new Endolite TT Pro compresses and rotates comfortably to absorb stress and then converts it into an energy boost for enhanced toe-off. Reduced stress at the interface between the body and the prosthesis means comfort when at work and at play. The TT Pro adds a spring to your step!
Shock Absorption
Recent studies show that using a prosthesis increases wear and tear on anatomical joints and the lower back. This highlights the importance of shock absorbing devices within the limb build. The TT Pro reduces both vertical and rotary forces on the body and helps to preserve the proximal joints. As the only shock and torsion device with a highly energy effi cient coil spring it perfectly balances shock absorption and energy management.
What makes the TT Pro even better?
The new bearing and torsion rod design means that the TT Pro works over a greater range of the stance phase than previous units. The benefi t is that the user will experience instant compression at heel strike and smoother energy return at toe-off.

The vertical compression is provided by a coil spring
and this has proven to be much more energy
efficient than poymer springs.

‘Gold’ bearing: the bearing surfaces are coated with
Titanium Nitride, a gold coloured ceramic, that
provides a hard wearing low friction surface ideal for the moving parts in the module.

Bigger bearing area: now with 20% improvement in
the aspect ratio so it can take higher moments and stillwork smoothly.

Seal: prevents contamination of the bearing surface and retains lubricant.

New axial rotation rod: retaining section increased by
100% to ensure durability.

30mm tube and clamp.

Comfort
Walking on a rigid prosthesis means that shock forces are transmitted directly to the body interface. Amputees attest to the importance of comfort above all other factors as crucial to a successful prosthesis. Daily activities, including golf and travel, involve frequent impact loads and body rotation. A rigid prosthesis transfers these loads directly to the skin as shear forces causing discomfort. The TT Pro absorbs and reduces these shear forces in the resilient rod and spring action. Jones et al. studied the impact of step negotiation on unilateral lower limb amputees and concluded that “Using a Tele -Torsion pylon may improve the mechanics of landing during downward stepping in trans-femoral amputees.”

Managing Energy

Comparisons between the TT Pro and devices containing polymer springs show signifi cant differences at late stance. The hysteresis loss in polymer sprung devices results in poor energy return at toe-off whereas the TT Pro coil spring demonstrates better energy management and resulting increases
in momentum, Fig 1. The increased ground reaction causes the vector to pass closer to the hip centre at toe-off, resulting in earlier knee fl exion initiation and an easier rollover, Fig 2. Buckley et al. measured lower Vo2 consumption for speeds 130% and 160% of normal proving that the TT Pro allows amputees to walk faster using less energy.

Fig 2, TT Pro decreases hip moment and encourages easier rollover. Fig 1, TT Pro increases energy return at toe-off. (3)
